We are pleased to announce that the South Asian and Indian Ocean Studies Group, ASAFAS, Kyoto University, is organizing a symposium on Nepal on 23 January 2010. Please see below for the details. For those interested on synopsis and word file of the below text please refer to a file herewith. We encourage circulation of this announcement for wider participation on the symposium.

As the idea of this symposium is to provide forum for emerging Nepali scholars and promote interactions between and among Nepali and Japanese scholars, particularly interested in Nepal, we are further looking to invite Japanese researchers as a discussant if possible. In that case, we will send a final schedule a week before symposium.
